Hi, Eric,

This is actually the next-to-the-last chapter of my book GROWING UP WITHOUT THE GODDESS: A Journey through Sexual Abuse to the Sacred Embrace of Mary Magdalene. The first part of my book tells of my fall into dysfunction. The second part reads like a Southern coming-of-age story as I try to revisit the past and discover what went wrong. This chapter is from the last section of the book, where I finally put memory, vision, dreams, and intuition together in order to heal myself.

Dear Sandra, Thank you for beginning your new discussion about healing after "growing up without the goddess". Often we think we go on a kind of straight line of progress from abuse to healed, but really it's more of a spiral shape of continual healing and continual discovery of little wounded places. Wounding and healing go together all the way along.
No one will be surprised that I know you personally so I can say personally that you are a sensitive healer, able to perceive energy in many "modes". I know you will give lots of supportive health-and-healing direction to many women who want so strongly to get better and get happier and get
spiritual-er. Is that a word? Maybe not, but it works for me.
When the apostles were in emotional chaos after Jesus died, Mary Magdalene "turned their hearts toward the Good" and helped them focus on the teachings of the Way.

I missed this response, Joan, until today. That is so interesting about the UN's rule, and it shows that inside each of us, the knowledge of the ways and wisdom of the Divine Feminine still are known and sometimes emerge in just the right places!

Hi Sandra, That's so interesting about the roots of the word "courage". It's original meaning seems to imply that when there's "discord", the feminine element of the heart is lacking. That reminds me of the U.N. statement (accord?) that when solving international disputes there must be one woman present. I don't know if they keep that rule but it's a good one. And that reminds me that Jean Shinoda Bolen is working hard to organize the next U.N. International Women's Conference, where more such wonderful "accords" will be made.
